Hello ladies and gents!
I'm Peanut, and I'm an American college student currently studying in Seoul, Korea for the summer as well as a commentator wannabe. I love the internet, pro-gaming, amateur gaming, Korea and other countries of the world, languages, singing, studying my ass off, and staying up late chatting on Ventrilo. Definitely log on and say hi, especially if you want to know anything about Korea, the SC scene in Korea, my research on MMOG gaming in Asia, where I think/hope the future of online entertainment is going, or if you want to talk about life in general.
I started playing SC when I was a senior in high school and was what Klazart calls a WAG = "wives and/or girlfriends." My now-ex boyfriend, a compsci major, would play SC with his friends while I sat and watched, and eventually I got tired of that and wanted to join in. I've played on and off ever since and have made great friends at school (and gotten hit on) in part through the magic of SC, and I absolutely love the single-player campaigns. I was absolutely crushed when Kerrigan and Raynor didn't get together and Zeratul is badass. I'm a pretty terrible player (Zerg usually, although sometimes Terran) but I love the game and all the smart and interesting people I've met through it.
One of the big reasons I decided to come to Korea this summer was for the SC pro-gaming scene, which I had heard about and had done research on but wanted to see firsthand. I am also ethnically Korean, although I was born and raised in the States (this is my first time in Korea, although not in Asia) and my Korean is pretty bad.
I haven't started commentating on any VODs yet but I definitely will soon after I listen to a whole buttload of commentaries and get to the point where I feel like I know what I'm talking about most of the time. I only discovered SC2gg and the commentating phenomenon this past year at school, so I have a lot to catch up on. Before then I might record some podcasts where I talk about what I do know already, which is the history and cultural contexts of pro gaming in Korea and elsewhere - if people are interested. I'm completely invested now, though, so I won't back out and I might ruin my senior year of college academically (haha) because of the commentating "bug," but I'm sure it'll be a great ride and I hope you guys will have as much fun with it as I will!
CU in SC,
Peanut

"BUT - if you dare play backalley SC with IWK - you better be ready for some BM ass play. Gird your loins for 5 pools, cannon gayness, proxy gates, proxy rax, proxy robo, proxy eng bays blocking your nat, proxy hatcheries, proxy supply depots, proxy fleet beacons, worker rush, PvZ carrier rush with walled-off junk in the choke, and the patented spore/lurker ultra lame." - Cholera
