MBC was the big winner of Week 2 after WeMade FOX in a very close series followed by a completely unexpected blow out against STX SouL. Light has risen to top three status in the league with his recent performance, demolishing teams left and right on his way to a killer Round 3 start. As expected, KT Rolster is also up on top with a solid 2-0 start. Amazingly, this has all went down without the help of Flash - KT's top dog has gotten a nice break thanks to the bench stepping up. Credit to Stats for delivering the goods this week as he led KT to a swift 4-1 route of Air Force ACE.

Looking down the standings, we have some surprising faces towards the bottom - Hwaseung OZ and CJ Entus, last season's Winners League finalists. OZ barely scrapped out their first win against Woongjin this week thanks to Killer. CJ Entus has been a fish out of water thus far, dropping three games before narrowly taking down Samsung KHAN in a seven set series. Depth, of all things has been their biggest problem as of late with Movie and Iris not living up to expectations. Unless EffOrt and SkyHigh work their magic, it could be a disappointing Winners League for one of the league's most popular teams.

Looking at the full standings, MBC and STX are now tied for second with 16-9 records. In the middle of the pack, CJ and eSTRO are trading blows as they punch it out for the sixth spot. T1 makes the biggest jump of the week climbing from the sixth spot into fourth place thanks to fantasy and BeSt, who combined for a 7-2 week. T1 fighting!

Leta, Fantasy, Light, and Kal shot up the to the top of the rankings this week, each racking up four wins apiece. Fantasy and Leta both scored the first 4-0's for SK Telecom T1 and Hite SPARKYZ respectively. But enough talk about successes, it's time to point our fingers at Mind, who has played in every single Winners League match, and has lost in every single instance. 0-3, not good for WeMade's strongest player by internal rankings...

Somebody (shout out if it was you, I honestly can't remember who) made the insightful comment that the new maps Roadrunner and Judgement Day heavily favor classical racial balancing, but because Protoss players are less common, and the Terran are dominating the Zerg right now, Terran come across as the race to play. Sure enough, Terran is 22-6 in TvZ overall in Winners League have played 42% of all games, and yet are 9-15 against Protoss!

Random scoring statistics:

4-3 victory: 8 times
4-2 victory: 5 times
4-1 victory: 3 times
4-0 victory: 2 times

Things to Watch for Week 17Show/Hide Spoiler
After taking a two-week nap, Flash decided to say screw it and chose to go the path of Jaedong against CJ Entus. Little did he know that he would be rematching his OSL finals opponent Movie. This could be an epic series or spectacular fail for KT Rolster depending on how this match goes. KT also gets eSTRO this week, which means the potential of a Really/Flash rematch. After being dethroned of his TvT streak in January by Really, Flash will surely be aiming to get revenge on the eSTRO Terran.

MBC and Woongjin have gotten off to a strong start in the Winners League, but now they face each other in what could be a "lights" out series. Light has simply been a beast of late, giving MBC the early 2-1, 3-1 leads and opening the floodgates for Sea and company. Sea decided to give his best Light impression this week by taking the opening spot for MBC. He'll have a heavy game to play, however, when he faces off against ZerO. Expect this one to go down to the wire with Light taking on free and/or Kwanro.

Jaedong came ever-so-close to a Week 2 all-kill of Woongjin Stars. He'll get a second chance at it this week when he faces off against the struggling CJ Entus in a rematch of the '09 Winners League finals. Expect all sorts of anti-Jaedong strats ahead as CJ pulls out their patented anti-Dong book. CJ, however, will have to factor in another threat in the form of OZ's Week 2 savior...

Just when I thought there couldn't be another Hyuk, along comes Killer.

All-Kill Watch: The Potential Aha's of the Week
  1. Leta attempts to follow up on his spectacular all-kill of route with a repeat performance against Air Force ACE. After checking out Air Force in the offline prelims, I think I'll put my money on Leta.
  2. Bisu has been on the backburner as of late with back-to-back-to-back losses. Whew! T1 has been rotating kills though, and after BeSt and fantasy's crushing performances last week, it's Bisu's turn to have some fun. Bisu has thrived against WeMade in the past, so stay tuned.
  3. Calm didn't have a pretty Week 2 performance, but he's definitely a player you'll want to watch this week when he and STX take on KHAN. Last season, Calm swept the team 4-0 after coming off the bench. Unless firebathero's TvZ is up to stuff, this could be another repeat performance for the STX Zerg and his top-tier ZvZ and ZvP.
  4. Light has been playing lights out all Winners League, but he's missed out on the elusive all-kill time and time again. He gets his best chance this week when he takes on Air Force ACE.

That's it for this week, thanks for reading and enjoy the games!

Didn't Leta just get beat?

I like him too but man that was not a good game haha.

He's mostly been winning though smile.gif Got himself a spot in the OSL to go with his all-kill.

What amuses me is SKT1 - they've opened all Winner's League games with Fantasy so far, but this week Bisu gets the nod... Can't help but wonder what the story there is.
