And this is at the same resolution of 1024x768 (i think, its off the top of my head). The max resolution is 1600X900, so that's quite a bit more pixels, which means even more clarity of 2d skins and 3d models.

I believe the max res is much higher. Currently my monitor's max res is 1600x1050 and thats what I get. I'm building a new desktop this week, and I might be getting a new monitor too. so if I do i will be getting a 1080p one for sure. I'm pretty sure sc2 supports that. currently my 8800gt is running the game on ultra maxed out on everything no problem. so my new gtx 285 should run this no problem.

I've been playing on low settings lately and I prefer it, I think its easy to tell what units are and whats going on faster. What I don't like are a few things, force fields are much harder to see (they are a very dark purple in low res as opposed to a bright reflective white in high res) and also when terran scans, there is one sweep of the scanner on low res, on high res the sweep continues until their sight disappears. This is a big advantage when playing on high res to check everywhere and see what they scanned when you hear it.

edit: basically when playing on low res scans are like how they were in sc1, quick animation followed by 5 seconds of sight. in sc2 on high res the 5 seconds of sight the animation is going but on low res the animation works like sc1.
