Full Version: Diablo fans thread
SC2GG - Your Gateway to StarCraft > General > General Lounge
BladeOfAiur
Now, I've just been reading through the topic concerning the melting picture on the Blizzard homepage and seen that we have quite a couple of fans on SC2GG.
Also, considering the possible release of Diablo 3 sometime in the near future I thought it would be right to create this topic for all of us Diablo fans here.

So, feel free to express your opinion about Diablo 3, your memories concerning the good old Diablo games and whatever else related to the Diablo universe.

Anyways, I always think back with pride at the time I first finished the game as Paladin, I was really proud. Back in the day most of us kids on the block had Diablo II and used to race to see who could finish it in the fastest time and stuff like that. Really good times and the game really never got boring to play.
Race
the game never GOT boring to play? Why did you stop playing it?
BladeOfAiur
Ok, sorry for the poor English. I meant it isn't boring to play even today; I still play it.
Radivel
For me, D2 never became exciting to play, and I still don't play it sad.gif

I'm glad you enjoy it though.

As I mentioned in the other threat, I loved this game when it came out. I played it obsesively for a long time, it had amazing replay value (as all Blizard games do).

I must have completed all 3 dificulty settings with almost every chracter (my brother and I shared the characters on my account, as this would have been impossible to acomplish by one person alone), without cheating or using hero editors (I did use them later, but that was just for messing around).

It could get a little repetitive after a while, because of lack of content outside the campaigns themselves, but dueling on Bnet was always ridiculously fun, and I'll always remember it fondly. I was far more acomplished at Diablo than I ever was at Starcraft, this is a great game that needs to come back at some point.

The potential for storylines after the ending of LoD is almost infinite: they can pretty much do anything now. A final war between heaven and the forces of hell, right on the mortal world, for all the marbles and the souls of mankind. Give old man Cain his own spinoff: Diablo III: the Chronicles of Cain. Do a freaking prequel (there's so much backstory to the games that it should almost be a no-brainer: "Adventures of young Tyrael: the Enforcer of God", or whatever).

The original Diablo is still one of my all time favorite games. I loved everything about it, particularly all the town regulars and the various bosses. My favorite part of D2 was actually the return to tristram (give me back my gold, Wirt!)... I have to say I wasn't nearly as big a fan of the class system though. It was still a fun game, and I still play it from time to time. The graphics haven't aged well though, and multiplayer is basically unplayable now because of all the hacking. Anyway, I really hope they do announce D3 this weekend. If there is anything that will cause me to stop playing SC2 when it comes out, its D3. I can't wait!

Ok, so there is a somewhat official-looking DIABLO III GENERAL DISCUSSION thread over at the Battle.net forums (thanks to Roxen for the heads-up).

Confirmation or Placeholder?

Does this mean that an official announcement is impending? Or is Blizzard just toying with my fragile little heart?
Plus, it looks like the mysterious splash image will turn out to be either a random protoss face or a death knight from WoW (much more likely in my opinion, since the death knight should be a central feature of the new expansion, "Wrath of the Lich King").
At any rate, the Blizzard WWI starts soon, and all our questions should be answered there (or at least the ones concerning the Diablo saga).
Greth will be in Paris covering the event because that's just how much his life rules.

Well, it's official people: Diablo III is coming to claim our souls and hard earned cash

Diablo III official new site

Now I'm really going to have to upgrade my hardware. Between this and SC2, I might never set foot outside my house again.
BladeOfAiur
Yes, yes!
Great news and I love both the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor, although already from the gameplay vid I rather like the Barbarian. (always was the heavy power type)

Well, I guess we'll anyway have to wait for quite some time for Diablo III considering that SCII isn't even done yet and also look at the time that has passed since they first announced it. Perhaps only 2010 will we be able to slash and blast our way through hordes of enemies...nobody really knows I guess.

And somehow I feel this is strange of blizzard to bring a new announcement whilst SCII isn't even out yet... whatever I guess...
iamjacksrevenge
Like we say in my country "They're throwing all the meat on the barbecue".

I don't think we'll have to wait that long, after all, the gameplay they showed looked pretty polished, and it's a much more straightforward game than SC, which means there'll be way less balancing issues and things of that sort to deal with before the game comes out.
My guess is we're getting a 2009 release.

Wow! I'm so excited after watching the trailer and gameplay video. The coolest part by far is where they knocked down the wall to crush all the zombies. This game is going to be pimp!

The witch doctor didn't seem as cool though, but I'm sure the other classes will fill the gap.
StusLegend
it feels great since i "knew" d3 was going to be announced, and all the haters out there were bashing me for it lolllll

the barb looks sweet so far, his leap+stomp attacks or whatever.. very nice

witch doctor seems ok, the wall of zombies thing is interesting and the locust swarm seems to rape in pvm same with the exploding you own summons thing
Race
If you think of something long enough, it will happen.
BladeOfAiur
I don't like the witch doctor, he somehow seems so vulnerable... although some attacks were quite cool.

Btw, I read somewhere smth about 5 hero classes. Can anyone confirm this and if yes, what other classes?
MrBitter
I've never played D2, but I was a big fan of D1 on the playstation.

D3 will be so great. I really hope they release it on the consoles, though.

Diablo > Starcraft

For me probably because I am so bad a Starcraft.

I am really excited.

Diablo 2 already had 5 hero classes, and Lord of Destruction added 2 more for a grand total of 7 different heros, so I expect Blizzard to come up with a few more for this one.

The witch doctor seems vulnerable because he's clearly supposed to be a caster and a magic-based character (like the necromancer in D2), and phisically weak compared to a straight-up warrior class like the barbarian.
BladeOfAiur
I believe you are wrong there my friend. Just got this from the Diablo III wikia: "There will also be 5 different classes, the two confirmed ones being the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor."

As such, I am afraid we may be seeing another 5 + 2 system with some upcoming expansion for Diablo III.
