Hello I'm George Martin and I am new to the site and starcraft in general. I really enjoy the game and hope to be good enough to play once sc2 comes out which im so enthusiastic about I am willing to play for battle.net thats how much I am loving this game. Anyways... once I saw this guide I loved it there is only one problem I just read in the post above that Salv has switched to zerg, I know this is an old post but does that mean this guide never got completed? If so is there any other guides I could follow? I recently read the art of protoss but that seems to focus just on pvp, the guide even says so it self in the into. In any case the art of protoss was good for pvt but this one was better so im hoping that there is a continuation the pvz and the pvp part of the guide if not please be so kind as to direct me to guides that are as complete as this one.

Another question does anyone know if Nal_ra will ever come back I'm new to the game but ive watched his games and he is truly master of protoss. Does anyone think he will quit being a commentator once sc2 comes out or will reach have to take the lead as the next best protoss player? Oh and if you can include the dragoon dance and how to do it did not see it on here, I however have to admit I have not looked at the entire site just yet, but will be doing in the near future hopefully after I get some responses from you guys

Thank you and will be awaiting your reply guys

Ps: Nice website :0

Hi, George. welcome to the forums(im new too laugh.gif )
One of the best PVZ guides is right here
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessag...?topic_id=47495
it covers pretty much most of the key elements
you might want to watch some pro replays as well, might as well learn from the best =p
i don't know how new you are to SC, but you should just really concentrate on learning solid build orders before learning PvZ- i personally think it's a very difficult match up to play

I highly doubt Nal_Ra will come out of retirement- he's a little old (30's right?) to play pro starcraft
and im not sure how much pro starcraft you watch, but Reach usually isnt considered the best right now- check our bisu, stork, and jangbi for some really strong players

btw: whats a "dragoon dance" do you just mean microing goons? if so then it's pretty simple: just move your goons away from the enemy as far as the goon firing range is, then press hold position so they take minimal damage between shots. rinse and repeat

rA is still just 27, but he's been out of progaming (as a player) for a year now, which would make any comeback impractical. He's got a good gig going as an MBC commentator so there's <1% chance he'll play another progame.

He is playing in the "Legends" tournament in July though. Not official progames, but they are games nevertheless.

Hey thank you for helping me on getting a zerg guide havent read it yet but im hoping it's in depth. I howerver have more questions im a big tech fan and Im wondering what should I do after I complete the starter tech build. What i mean is what high tech unit should I be aiming for templars, arbiters, reavers I see a lot of people using templars mostly but i see others using zealots/reavers are there certain situations that each high end unit calls for or do people just have a certain preference and basically choose there unit based on their liking?

you might want to elaborate on "starter tech build" as there are many.
assuming that you mean forge FE into a stargate, there are basically more "starter" options from there:

*you can go for a second gate and go corsair reaver (this is a powerful combo, but its incredibly micro intensive, very few casual players can pull this off to pro gamer effectiveness IMO because it takes a lot of APM)

*you can mass up zealots, get a fast +1 attack, and get two archons then move out and pressure the zerg (good if the zerg went for a muta build since a couple of archons will slaughter them, and they are left with only a tiny hydra force when you go for a timing attack)

*if the zerg goes for a mass lurker contain, youll need to get a lot of goons, and a lot of templar to break it

*templar- zealot is good if the zerg is very hydra heavy

arbiters are pretty useless PvZ until its like a crazy game where you both get mined out
i dont think that zealot reaver really exists- usually any reavers are in combination with corsairs

yeah, so basically, aim for a lot of templar, as later in the game having a large archon force can beat the always popular ultra ling

you shouldnt be choosing units based on your liking, see what you opponents unit composition is and adjust accordingly

hope that helped wink.gif

I think you mean how Dragoons can run, attack, run, attack, and kill the enemys units without ever getting hurt. This is all just microing the goons well.

You run away from the enemy units and press H (hold position), which makes the goons attack the enemy units. Then when they get close again run away and keep doing that. Don't go too far away or else you won't reach the enemy in time. This is perfect against melee units, such as zealots and lings, also is fairly good against rines if you have range.

Practice against comps because comps usually just keep running at you while a regular player will run away because they know they can't kill you if you show that you can micro them well enough.

Hope that helps! smile.gif

Also, would you like to practice with me? I'm lookin for a training partner. I'm also a Protoss player so we can practice PvP's. PM me if your interested biggrin.gif

PvP is my worst matchup right now as Protoss, so I'd also be interested in any PvP partners.
