I came up with this map over the past couple days for use in FFA's with my friends, and I figured I might as well post it here. It's akin to Seven Sins in that no attempt to achieve perfect positional balance has been made, but rather each base is unique, and has its own strengths and weaknesses. Also, although I did most of the work on it in SCMdraft, I made sure the whole map could have been made in StarEdit (inverted and extended ramps are useful when making balanced maps, but natural ramps just look better).

It should be mentioned that any of the mineral and geyser resource values have been fiddled with. Often, a string of minerals at an expansion will have patches with 750 minerals at the ends.

What do people think of the decoration? I feel that it's some of the better deco I've done (which really isn't saying much).

If one base is significantly better or worse than the others for a reason I've missed, please point it out so I can make some changes to it. Also, if you feel that I could do something much more interesting/unique with part of the map, feel free to suggest it as well. Just keep in mind I want it to look like it was made in StarEdit.

Other than that, enjoy!

Well, it's rather imbalanced. By rather imbalanced, I mean very imbalanced. The top left base is really well protected and easy to hold. The two middle and mid right start positions are all incredibly vulnerable, and none of these three have any real natural expansions. The middle start location with THREE geysers is relatively easy to hold compared to the other two. Yes it's a ffa map so some balance problems can be ignored but even in Seven Sins, the 3 o clock position was rather poor. Compared to the start locations here though... My advice, stick to symmetrical until you get a bit better. Asymmetrical is extremely difficult to pull off well.

I've always wondered about asymmetrical maps. would it work for a 2 player map if balanced well?

For an FFA you really need the bases to be at the edges of the map, if for no other reason that you don't have one player getting caught in the crossfire of a huge battle for no reason than that he happened to spawn there. Thats a very annoying thing and I know that I wouldn't play a map if that was likely to happen. Screw the triple geyser lol.

The expos themselves are what you make asymmetrical. If you notice, all of the mains on seven sins are pretty much the same, it is where they lead to that is different.

Something makes me think you missed the point of Seven Sins.
