Day 1 Recap

YellOw[ArnC] vs go.go

Commentary (NukeTheStars)Show/Hide Spoiler

After a YarnC denied an 8rax, go.go tried some super-cheesy-proxy-factory-turbo build. YarnC's star sense detected something tricky going on and scouted the proxy factory behind his base. go.go tried to switch to M&M, but YarnC's mutas were coming. Once go.go saw them, he knew he had no chance. YellOw[ArnC] takes the lead in the series, 1-0.

Leta vs type-b

Leta also went the 8-rax route, but more for a very fast factory than for rushing. He too tried a proxy factory, but like his Zerg brother, type-b spotted it in time and stopped the vultures with a couple of hydralisks. The game transitioned into standard play with Leta going bio, and type-b lurkers. Type-b's lurkers and Leta's M&M tangoed in the center of the map until Leta's first tanks popped out. Leta made his first real push out with three tanks and a vessel, but he carelessly lost the vessel to scourge. Nevertheless, Leta rebuilt his forces and type-b was forced to play the defiler delay game. When defilers popped, Leta roamed around the center of the map looking for blood, but all of type-b's expos were well defended. Leta made numerous drop attempts, but they were all denied. Type-b continued to stall Leta's advances with swarm and scourge. Finally, Type-b decided to end it. His expos had been running too long unharassed, and brand new Ultralisks closed the game. Type-b played a superb ZvT and takes the game over heavy favorite, Leta.

Fantasy vs Canata

Commentary (NukeTheStars)Show/Hide Spoiler

Fantasy was sure the sneaky one today! First, he built a proxy factory behind Canata's natural which enabled him to sneak vultures right into Canata's main, killing numerous SCVs. He then followed up with 2-port wraiths, killing even more SCVs. Canata tried to counter with a small ground force, but Fantasy fought it off beautifully. At this point, Canata had lost so many SCVs that it was painfully obvious that Fantasy had the game in the bag. Eventually, Canata threw in the towel once he had lost the few tanks he had to Fantasy's tank push. Fantasy takes game one.

Jaedong vs ZerO

Commentary (NukeTheStars)Show/Hide Spoiler

ZerO's 12-pool/gas 11 hatch got his zerglings to Jaedong's 12-hatch 11-pool/gas faster, but Jaedong's furious zergling micro saved his natural. Jaedong followed up with even more zerglings, and powered it home by throwing mass speedlings at ZerO.

Bonus: The eyes of a killer, quietly ridiculing his opponentShow/Hide Spoiler

i'm kinda concerned for Jaedong, his face has changed from a happy "ha, i pwned u" to an angry "i'm gonna pwn this noob in starcraft, this is a waste of my time" to an even angrier "i'm gonna pwn this noob in starcraft and murder him in real life". i wouldn't be surprised if Zero, Canata, and CJ entus just went missing after their OSL, MSL, and proleague matches respectively.
DejaVu119
yea man his intensity is quite terrifying. I never thought I'd see a video gamer with a look like that but it is all business and pure venom.

After Zero's creative and fantastic play early on, with his Queen snipers and infested terrans, it's sad to see him go. But there's no doubt J will PWN him in the next game. I'm actually scared if the finals end up being Fantasy vs. Jaedong... AGAIN. It would suck for Fantasy to lose two OSL tournaments in a row!
MyLittlePwny
Zero's creativity has got him this far, but it was Jaedong who was creative game. His first and second overlords scouted in a patterned designed to hide his starting location for the counter to his 12 hatch, a nine pool

Just another small reason it's called rock, paper, jaedong

Fantasy and Jaedong are on the same side of the bracket this time. If they battle again, it will be in the semifinals.
